A new Berrien frame, why not an original Beetle frame?
It is almost impossible today to find a rust free Beetle floor pan (frame). They are over 40 years old and plagued with problems. When shortened 14 1/4" to fit a buggy, they are seldom straight, level and square, which makes them impossible to get the wheels aligned. Welding done for shortening is usually poor quality. Most for sale buggies never show the underside floor or its condition, nor can they go over 50mph without shaking or be stable on the road at highway speed.
Berrien is the only way to go!

February 07, 2015 Manx Update
The Manx 1 has had many chassis parts inspected and refurbished. Brake drums, backing plates, shift tube, steering box, steering damper, and all associated parts. The Berrien floor pan has been fitted and the pedal assembly, master cylinder and shifter have been installed and their operation checked.
Many new parts were just delivered today. Soon, it will be a rolling chassis, pictures to follow.
SPINDLES WITH NEW LINK PIN BUSHINGS NOW INSTALLED
FRONT BRAKES ALL NEW
SWING ARM BUSHINGS, GERMAN AXLE BOOTS, REAR BRAKES, WHEEL CYLINDERS, BRAKE LINES AND HOSES ARE ALL NEW
FRONT DISC BRAKES ARE OVER DOING THE BRAKE SYSTEM. MANY PEOPLE INSTALL PROPRTIONING VALVES IN FRONT DISC SYSTEMS TO AVOID LOCKING UP THE FRONT WHEELS BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE BRAKE PRESSURE. DUNE BUGGIES ARE TOO LIGHT IN THE FRONT AND DO NOT REQUIRE MORE BRAKE. PROPERY INSTALLED AND ADJUSTED DRUM BRAKES WILL STOP YOU JUST AS QUICK. I HAVE DRIVEN BUGGIES WITH AND WITOUT THEM.
MY BUGGY HAS DRUM BRAKES AND STOPS ON A DIME. STOP IN FOR A TEST DRIVE, YOU'LL BE GLAD IT HAS SEAT BELTS.
ALL TIRES MOUNTED WITH MICKEY THOMPSON NAME DIRECTLY ACROSS FROM THE VALVE STEM AND CENTER CAP LETTERING HORIZONTAL WITH VALVE STEM
